Rudy Calderón was one of the guest speakers at the 8th Annual Latino Book and Family Festival held at CSU Los Angeles on September 11-12, 2004. He spoke and recited poetry from his 1st book I Wonder If You Will Ponder? A Collection of Poems. Some of the poems that were presented at this event were popular poems such as I Wonder If You Will Ponder?," My Gratitude To The Art of Writing," "Love in Corinthians," "The Clown," What Will You Do To Be Free," as well as a Spanish poem titled "Mi Familia Mexicana," which will be in an up and coming Spanish poetry book. This poem has been received with great enthusiasm at booksignings in Bakersfield, CSU Los Angeles, and has been printed in the Latino Today newspaper circulating in such cities such as Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and the Santa Maria Valley.
Rudy began his presentations on both Saturday and Sunday with words of gratitude and appreciation as he says, "...not just because I was born in this great metropolis but because we are here at an important event and with the sole purpose of preserving but more importantly expanding human thought."
The festivities of the weekend brought together many Latino families and celebrities such as Edward James Olmos, Chespirito, Tony Plana, and Esai Morales. This event brought together great talent and enthusiasm for the 8th Annual Latino Book and Family Festival.
