A father’s love
“Is there life after death?”
the boy asked his father, as they sat by a fire
late at night, hungry and tired from their
wretched life and unfortunate
position in society.
The lonely father, with the years showing
on his countenance looked into the fire
and then uttered, “Yes, yes indeed!
The angels await us. We are guaranteed
a position. The streets we will walk will be paved with gold and we shall never know
want, pain or hnger my son!”
The boys face lit up and his soul was filled.
He leaned and hugged his father.
The father walked his son to his room and put him to sleep. Then he walked the mule to
the lake and there sobbed
until the morning’s sun
dried his eyes.
